Since 2010, COCE has worked in concert with the Four Freedoms Fund to facilitate and run civic participation convenings attended by FFF grantees and other civic engagement practitioners. These multi-day workshops bring together future leaders in the civic engagement space to develop their skills, build the networks, and sharpen their skills in areas of field organizing, communications, and other forms of community engagement.
In April 2017, COCE worked with the Four Freedoms Fund to host a convening in Chantilly, Virginia. Speakers led plenary and breakout discussions on topics including the 2017 state of the electorate, campaign messaging, and the importance of election protection for civic engagement. The training material was put into practical use by live phone banking and canvassing of targeted voters in the northern Virginia area.
